Taught by practising industry professionals in exceptional, purpose-built spaces and studios the Undergraduate Certificate in Acting is a 6-month introduction to acting and performing, designed for those with a desire to build a career in the performing arts industry, as well as those wanting to increase their confidence in acting and public speaking skills.

  • Should you wish to continue your studies, you will have the opportunity to audition for the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama) upon completion of the Certificate or you can receive partial credit into the Bachelor of Creative Industries (Theatre and Performance).

Your career

Flinders graduates include award-winning actors, animators, directors, cinematographers, editors, producers and writers. The Undergraduate Certificate is designed to provide you with a taste of the various Drama offerings at Flinders University.

You may then choose to continue to further study or apply the skills you developed during the Certificate to other professions. Upon completion, you will be a more confident public speaker and presenter, which is beneficial in many businesses and roles.

The Certificate will provide the foundational skills should this be your next step.

Professional accreditation/recognition

Participants gain a University Certificate on completion, which is AQF accredited.

The program also provides a pathway or credit into the Bachelor of Arts for participants who wish to pursue further study in the future.

What you will study

You will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of acting.
  • Develop your understanding of theatre and how to bring a script to life on stage.

You may choose to study topics that will develop your understanding of film, writing for performance, academic and professional communication.

Applicants can apply for this course using Year 12 qualifications, previous Higher Education study, TAFE/VET qualifications, or through Adult Entry (STAT/Foundation Studies/tertiary preparation course).

For applicants using their SACE (Year 12) results (or equivalent), entry is subject to achieving a minimum selection rank of 60.

The Australian Government is subsidising courses across a range of national priority areas in order to give people the opportunity to upskill or learn new skills to help the workforce and the nation during a difficult economic period. These course subsidies could help you transition to a new role within your existing industry, or prepare you to move to a new industry.

Yes. These are micro-credential courses and can be completed part-time over 25 weeks (or a university year of 2 semesters). To qualify for the government discount, you must enrol and begin your studies in the same year.
