Recommendations from Dr van Duivenvoorde through the University have allowed me to undertake an internship in Sri Lanka and currently at the Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington DC. I was also part of the discovery of South Australia’s oldest shipwreck The South Australian, and I took part in the excavation of parts of a shipwreck called The Amazon which wrecked in Inverloch, Victoria. Due to these practical experiences, it is now significantly easier for me to understand the theoretical part of maritime archaeology.

Flinders was the perfect choice for me as it really allowed me to pursue my interests and study in a friendly and productive environment. Flinders stands out to me from other universities because of the diversity in topics they offer as well as the tight-knit and welcoming community within the college.
