Our Master of Business Administration(MBA) specialisations offers you the opportunity to tailor your course, or to choose from one of our specialisations in Business Analytics, Marketing, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, Finance, International Business or Social Impact. The course is designed to provide you with a strong foundation of business knowledge, competencies and capabilities to support ethical, global business management and leadership of organisations. You will be exposed to the application of theory to a range of organisation types including private sector businesses, not-for-profit organisations and public organisations.
Our Master of Accounting is accredited by CPA Australia and other professional bodies. The degree offers the right balance of practice and theory to prepare you for a successful career as an accounting or business professional. Topics cover areas such as accounting fundamentals, information systems and accounting processes, quantitative methods, economics for business, management and cost accounting, principles of commercial law, financial accounting issues, financial management, corporate accounting, auditing and assurances, and business research methods.
The graduate certificate is designed to meet the needs of practitioners working in education, health and community services that support people with disabilities. The Master of Disability Policy and Practice provides advanced professional experience for graduates from a range of professional fields associated with disabilities and assists them to become effective and competent leaders and scholars in the field of disability studies.
Topics cover areas such as communication difficulties, autism spectrum disorder; intellectual disability; transition from school to adult life; design and evaluation of disability programs; leisure, disability and the arts; perspectives on ageing and disability; and disability and the individual, family and society.
Applications will be considered from students who have not previously studied in the disability field.
The postgraduate education program is intended for people currently employed in education, special education or education management, and for those who have an interest in developing their knowledge and practice in these areas. It introduces knowledge and skills in your area of interest, with a focus on understanding and changing practice.
Choose from specialisations such as Leadership and Management; Special Education; Cognitive Psychology and Educational Practice; Languages Education; Educational Research, Evaluation and Assessment, and Wellbeing and Positive Mental Health – or study a combination of the above to suit the circumstances of your career and goals. Environmental management combines the social sciences and humanities with the study of physical geography, the earth sciences and biology to provide the breadth of knowledge required of environmental managers.
Flinders University has a well-earned reputation as a leading light in the field of water resources, hydrology and groundwater with Australia’s largest academic, industry and government research team working on breaking exciting new ground in this field. Our water programs include Water Resources Management and Groundwater Hydrology.
Flinders University is also a key partner in the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training (NCGRT), the largest centre specialising in groundwater education and research in the southern hemisphere, which is located on the Flinders campus.
The Aquaculture program develops an understanding of aquaculture principles and practices in a wide variety of fields. These include nutrition, water quality, reproduction, genetics, hatchery management, ecology, physiology, husbandry, production, health management, disease control, product quality, aquaculture systems, aquaculture technology, experimental design, statistics for biology, fisheries biology, management, and bio-business.
The courses draw on expertise from key industry figures in South Australia who serve on an industry consultative committee. Linked with these courses are work placements in tuna, yellowtail kingfish, oyster, abalone, mussel and freshwater crayfish sites. Flinders University is involved in research shared with Primary Industries and Resources South Australia (PIRSA) and the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI).
Gender issues shape political, cultural and social institutions, as well as personal identity and relationships. The interdisciplinary field of women’s studies reflects this wide scope by including social, cultural and political perspectives. It introduces you to the theoretical and empirical analysis of a wide range of issues and helps you to develop flexible skills suited to a variety of situations and contexts.
At Flinders, we acknowledge the importance of gender in development, and this is why our Master of Arts (Women’s Studies) starts off with a Graduate Diploma in Gender and Development for all students.
There are many health-related fields that can have a big impact on the quality of people’s lives, and their ability to lead healthy and productive lives. Flinders University has several health-related study areas that are aligned with Australia Awards priority areas. Many of our academics have practical experience in Asia, the Pacific or Africa and can relate to the context you will be going back to.

Flinders University has a strong program in Public Health. Our courses provide advanced skills in health promotion and looking at internal and external impacts on wellbeing. Public health studies at Flinders offers the opportunity to specialise in public health with a remote, rural or international focus. You can either focus on coursework, or include a semester of research in your degree.
We also offer Environmental Health which is the study of how the environment impacts on our health – the physical, biological, chemical and sociological factors external to us that determine our health and wellbeing. Environmental health is the branch of public health that is concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environment that affect our health, such as water, food, air, buildings and waste.
If you are a current or aspiring public sector manager or policy maker, the postgraduate program in public administration provides opportunities for you to enhance your understanding, knowledge and skills in this area. Postgraduate courses in public administration have been taught at Flinders University since 1986. The program is designed with the needs of current and future public-sector employees in mind and is reviewed regularly.
Topics cover areas such as contemporary cases in public policy, theoretical perspectives on contemporary public policy, ethics in public administration, and governance and public policy.
Some electives can be incorporated from other graduate programs including international development, international relations, international business, environmental management, social work, Asian governance, applied population studies, public health and educational administration.
You can specialise in Public Policy or Public Sector Management. A work placement or a master’s thesis are further options. You will work with an international team of lecturers – and meet colleagues from all over the world.
The Master of Social Work teaches you to research, analyse and articulate a framework for inclusive and ethical professional social work practice. You will develop the skills to identify the cultural context of various approaches and their relevance to specific situations and populations, and to delineate the connections between interpersonal practice, social policy and research. Topics cover areas such as social work with diverse populations, complexities in work with children and families, mental health through the life course, and trauma and resilience.
You will undertake two field placements totaling 500 hours each. Placements are usually offered over four days per week. Placements are designed to provide you with learning opportunities in a range of practice settings, with varied practice methodologies and different client groups.
The Master of Social Work is accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Many of the study areas above can also be studied as a bachelor course.

Flinders University offers PhD students with a skills training program that consolidates all research and transferrable skills training across the university into one program. It is an individualised program, where students choose what training is most relevant to them and at what stage of their candidature. ISS is the first point of contact for all onshore international students and offers a range of programs supporting your enrolment, study and social life, as well as referring students to services on campus and within the local community. ISS organizes a general orientation program for new international students, day and weekend tours throughout the semester, social activities and information sessions.
The English Language Support Program (ELSP) has been developed to assist students who come from a non-English speaking background to improve their English, specifically in the academic context.
Modules are free and run by experienced English as a Second Language (ESL) tutors. Modules available include: academic writing, grammar, listening and discussion, pronunciation, and reading academic texts.
The Horizon Professional Development Award is an award program designed to complement every Flinders student’s academic study.
It provides opportunities to engage in activities and experiences, on-campus and externally, that develop and enhance professional skills required in the contemporary and future work space.
The IAP is intended to provide awardees with support during their first weeks in Australia, to assist in preparing for study in Australia and to enhance their ability to meet the demands of their studies.
