“The thing I enjoyed the most about my degree was clinical placements, which offered me an opportunity to experience practical care as well as an understanding of what to anticipate as a future registered nurse.

In addition, it gave me the chance to meet numerous excellent and professional RNs and different patients, which massively impacted on the theory aspect of my nursing. It’s one of the top universities in Australia for nursing and Flinders have great facilities that are set up for nursing students.

They are also very considerate and anticipate international students’ needs, and have put services and measures in place to ease the pressure of adjusting to academic life away from home. Students like me are not made to feel excluded, with the addition of prayer rooms, ablution places in toilets, and halal food. These are very valuable and highly convenient additions for me as an international Muslim student.”

“International Student Services and Flinders truly came through for me. I’m so happy to be back, I can’t put into words what it means. I’m feeling fantastic.

After two years of uncertainty (thanks to COVID-19) I’m finally here in Australia, ready to finish my studies. I fully appreciated all the support International Student Services (ISS) provided me. They not only helped me get back to Adelaide and Flinders in time to attend my placement – they seriously helped me throughout the two years of my pandemic absence. The ISS team were always quick to respond to any questions I had. It was very reassuring.

The time away from my degree gave me a unique opportunity, I had time to carefully consider my choice (of degree), and what I wanted in my life and career. I realised I had made the right choice in my Nursing degree at Flinders and my future career. It was a powerful moment.”

“Flinders University has given immense support – I was really impressed with the way the faculty supports every student, and how they continuously aim for excellence.

Despite the pandemic, we could successfully conduct all our classes and lab practices in campus because of the thoughtful lecturers. They quickly initiated measures to maintain social distancing and keep students and staff protected.

The Flinders nursing campus is calm and friendly for learning. It has a spacious library and lounge to study and do research – with friendly and supportive staff. I am also getting to update my hands-on practice with the excellent resources available, and the excellent lecturers

For me, Flinders has not been a wrong choice. Flinders University is equipped with knowledgeable, dedicated, and supportive teaching faculty and approachable staff. The best thing about Flinders is you will never feel neglected. Whatever problem you are facing, they have solutions.”

Tshering Om
Bachelor of Nursing (Pre-registration), Bhutan

“I wanted to qualify as a Registered Nurse and Flinders University offered the shortest course to get me there – it also provided a balanced lifestyle between studying, working, socialising and volunteering.

Adelaide is a really great city! It’s so cheap and easily accessible and safe with plenty of public transport. Your money will go further in Adelaide with the cost of living much cheaper than other capital cities. You can also explore so much of South Australia with hills, beaches and wineries practically on your doorstep.

Flexibility in my university timetable allows me to work part-time and volunteer with St John (ambulance and first aid service) while maintaining my social life with my friends. I love living in Adelaide, outside of my lectures I like to go hiking in all the national parks and chilling on the beach. My favourite things to do in town are visiting the South Australian Museum and the Art Gallery on North Terrace. Followed by food in Chinatown!”.

Viet Ha Ngyuen
Bachelor Nursing (Graduate entry), Vietnam

“The education system is completely different from Nepal, but my learning experience at Flinders has been great!

Tutors really communicate with you and are very friendly, and you get lots of support from International Student Services. The clinical placement during my study has been really helpful for me. I came to understand more about the nursing perspective in Australia, and Flinders sends you on a lot of diverse clinical placements.

I would recommend other people to come to Flinders because the facilities are great, it's a calm environment and you can have your personal space. Many of the tutors are not originally from Australia, or they used to be international students themselves. It's comforting, as they can offer an extra level of understanding as to how it feels to be an international student.”
