There are no prerequisites for this short course and we welcome applications from people of all nationalities and anyone over the age of 18. Moderate levels of fitness will be necessary for some components of this short course.
This course is an intensive introduction to underwater cultural heritage management in the Southeast Asian and Australasian region. It is designed to introduce participants to the ways in which underwater cultural heritage is protected and preserved through legislation, management and interpretation programs and activities. This topic aims to provide participants with knowledge about the major theoretical and practical approaches to the protection, preservation, and management of underwater cultural heritage.
On completion of this topic students will be able to:
Participants who complete the assessments are supplied with a Certificate of Achievement which states that the course is equivalent to a 4.5 unit topic.
This short course will be taught by Professor Wendy van Duivenvoorde. She is a specialist in shipwreck archaeology, maritime cultural heritage and management, and applied methods in maritime and underwater Archaeology.
