Online delivery options are available for our courses providing you with flexible study options to suit your needs.
Your learning outcomes are multidisciplinary and broad, with contributions from psychology, philosophy, sociology, health, rehabilitation and special education.
Our new major in Rehabilitation Counselling allows access to membership for several professional associations.
Pathways and entry is available if you have a Certificate IV or Diploma.
Our postgraduate programs have been designed for those wishing to build on their existing knowledge as well as for those from non-health backgrounds who want to make a transition into this exciting field.
Staff from the Flinders Disability and Community Inclusion Unit who teach our programs are leaders in their fields with national and international research profiles in disability studies.

Professional recognition

Our comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate courses are recognised by the Developmental Educators Australia Inc (DEAI) for registration as a developmental educator upon graduation.

Our new major in Rehabilitation Counselling allows graduates to apply for membership to the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors, and the Rehabilitation Counselling Association of Australasia.

Practicum placements

Incorporation of practicum placements in our courses allows students to demonstrate skills, knowledge and professional behaviours introduced through the courses.

Careers

Australia’s new National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is expected to result in demand for new, client-driven services and supports requiring suitably qualified disability professionals.

Our graduates gain employment in a wide range of healthcare roles. You may work in areas including disability advocacy, rehabilitation, special education, employment services, social work, human services, disability policy and program development.
