Flinders Automotive Solar Car Program
The Flinders Solar Car program has been running since 2016, and provides a global experience for Flinders students. They get to work closely with industry, leading academics in this field and are involved as a cross functional group to develop various aspects of the program from design, mechanical and electrical development through to bio medical support systems, software and on-board IT systems.
The program has so far seen four Flinders Solar Car Teams (FAST) complete the World Solar Challenge as part of their studies, learning and refining new skills that enhance, underpinning and grow their academic learnings to produce job ready graduates.
The program consists of a highly motivated team of undergraduate students, supported by academics, industry and system specialists to create and deliver a constantly evolving platform that embraces a technology and renewable driven future whilst maintaining the core engineering underpinnings of automotive design and build. With dedicated workshop space, project management and University support, the FAST program is set up to deliver a unique and potentially career defining experience to those who get involved!
