The global health care (leading quality and safety) nursing program aims to advance knowledge of clinical governance and the processes involved in achieving continuous quality improvement in global health care. The curriculum content is informed by the World Health Organisation Patient Safety Curriculum and the Australian National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
You will have the opportunity to reflect on, explore, and critically analyse the complexity of the issues associated with the principles of quality and safety in health care from Australian and international perspectives. The curriculum includes the nature of healthcare error including quality indicators, the role of effective communication, and the methods of error detection and monitoring.
You will develop an understanding of clinical governance, accountability and systems management, and have considered methods for improving health care such as applying clinical research into practice, clinical practice guidelines and clinical practice improvement.
