Ask Flinders

What is flexible entry in engineering? keyboard_arrow_up

It’s a general first-year option that lets you explore all areas of engineering before choosing a specialisation in second year.

What if I already know what kind of engineer I want to be? keyboard_arrow_up

You can enrol in a specialised stream straight away—but flexible entry is great if you want to keep your options open.

Yes! Once you transition into your chosen stream, your degree name will reflect your specialisation (e.g. Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) (Honours)).

Are the topics the same as other engineering degrees? keyboard_arrow_up

Yes. The first-year topics are shared across all Flinders engineering programs—giving you a solid base to build from.

Is there demand for engineers in Australia? keyboard_arrow_up

Definitely. Engineering is one of Australia’s most in-demand professions, and job growth is strong across every major discipline.

What support will I get when choosing my stream? keyboard_arrow_up

You’ll get course advice, mentorship and information sessions in your first year to help you make a confident decision.
