Senior Lecturer, College of Business, Government and Law: Dr Philip Palmer

Philip has completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) with Honours and a PhD in Accounting. He is a member of CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

He is passionate about producing enterprising, work-ready accounting graduates, who have the necessary technical knowledge and personal attributes to make a successful contribution to the accounting profession.

Senior Lecturer, College of Business, Government and Law: Dr Michelle Yeong

Michelle holds an MBA and a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Oxford Brookes University, UK, with a particular expertise in financial technology (FinTech) and business model innovation.

She is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA). Michelle is an alumna of Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, with over 20 years of international experience across various aspects of financial services in Australia, Asia and Europe.

Work Integrated Learning Coordinator: Ms Kahlene Michalenny

Kahlene has a Bachelor of Business (Management) from Flinders University where she learned first-hand the value of undertaking a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement. Kahlene's WIL experience saw her transition from student to working professional with her WIL employer in her final study year.

Kahlene is passionate about supporting current students to have valuable WIL experiences within the College of Business, Government & Law.

As an Accountant, you’ll be using the foundational skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. And possibly, some entry-level algebra. Luckily, everything you need to future-proof your career is built into your studies.

The average CFO’s salary is around $422,000—starting at $256,000 and reaching up to $772,000 per annum. Wages are based on education levels, certifications, professional development, and time working in the industry.*

Is a CFO higher than a CEO?

A CEO is higher than a CFO. The Chief Financial Officer is the highest financial management role in an organisation and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The CFO is often a member of the Board of Directors, too. The next position down from CFO is the Financial Controller who leads the accounting department and report to the CFO.
