Top 5 student tips for online study

There are some simple tips and tricks to help you really make the most of your online study experience. Here are five of our faves from Flinders’ students:

Routine, routine, routine. Get up early and get dressed. Take breaks and eat lunch. End your day by walking away from your workspace. Whether that is physically or mentally. It's important to separate work and home time. Deanne

Reach out to other students/friends in your topics and book a time during the week to talk about assessments and lecture material. If you feel behind and that you aren’t understanding the topic material, your classmates can help. And vice-versa! Allana

Reward yourself for achieving a goal during a study session. Always think of the big picture of what your assessments, learning and degree will give you in the future. Dean

I’ve been breaking things down into half hour blocks with a five-minute break in between each block so I have a finite amount of time I have to focus for. Also, lo-fi music while reading! I’ve also found that facetiming study buddies and just sitting there working (and not talking!) is useful in keeping me on track because I can see someone else be focused and productive, and they can tell me to get on with things when I get distracted.
