How to get into university using your Year 11 Grades
The Year 11 Grades Pathway can take the edge off Year 12 stress
It’s no secret – the past couple of years have been stressful for many of us. For anyone in Year 12 though, the combination of lockdowns and disrupted studies have been particularly demanding.
“Commencing Year 12 throughout the pandemic was quite difficult and overwhelming. It was very hard to cope with the difficulties of study as I was falling behind quite a lot and contacting teachers for help became extremely difficult.”
Sidra, Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)
“COVID placed a great deal of stress on me in Year 12. While I still managed to achieve results at a higher level, I felt as if I didn’t do the best that I could’ve if the pandemic didn’t take such a massive toll.”
Madison, Bachelor of Criminology (Honours)
“Completing Year 12 during the pandemic was extremely stressful and challenging. The hardest part of last year was trying to stay motivated, but also trying to stay engaged and positive throughout my final year of school.”
Tayla, Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) (Honours)/Master of Engineering (Biomedical)
Fortunately, Flinders’ Year 11 Grades Pathway can help ease a bit of that stress. If you’ve done well in Year 11, those grades could help you enter many of Flinders’ degrees in 2023.
While some year 12 eligibility requirements still apply, the Year 11 Grades Pathway can help you focus your studies in Year 12, knowing you have the strength of your previous grades behind you.
Flinders students who joined the University via the pathway found that it took a lot of pressure off.
“I absolutely loved this pathway!! The pressure of getting an ATAR and maybe getting into university puts so much pressure on top of general Year 12. Knowing I only had to pass my subjects dropped my stress levels immensely. “
Lara, Bachelor of Nursing
“I thought that this new admissions pathway was an excellent idea. It relieved a lot of pressures of my Year 12 studies as I was able to complete assessments to the best of my ability and not feel as though I wasn’t good enough or intelligent enough.”
Sidra, Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)
“In all honesty, I believe that the Year 11 pathway was a godsend. I remember sitting in class when I received my acceptance email and nearly crying. It honestly felt like a giant weight had been lifted from my shoulders, and I believe that was the push I needed to finish my studies to the best of my abilities.”
Madison, Bachelor of Criminology (Honours)
“After being accepted into my course early I felt so much more at ease and calm. Knowing that I did succeed made me so much less stressed and I completed Year 12 extremely less anxious than I was when I started.”
Tayla, Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) (Honours)/Master of Engineering (Biomedical)
The Year 11 Grades Pathway application process is simple, but applications have to be made through SATAC by 30 September 2022, so don’t miss out!
“The application process involved looking through the listed courses which were offering this admission pathway. Next, it was required for me to look at the grades my course was accepting, and once I had analysed that, I took the leap to apply and felt very excited about what was to come next.”
Sidra, Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)
“The pathway application included me submitting my Year 11 grades and making sure I had my preferred course on the top of my SATAC applications. Applying made me feel extremely less stressed, just because it was a way of knowing that there are so many other pathways to getting into University.”
Tayla, Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) (Honours)/Master of Engineering (Biomedical)

Sidra, Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)
“For me, the Year 11 pathway offered a sense of achievement when it felt as if I had lost hope in my studies. I believe it is an amazing opportunity for students, and gives more of a chance to achieve your goals.”
