“I have just always been interested in law whether it be watching documentaries or seeing things on the news, I just knew it was something I wanted to be involved in.”
Beginning university studies wasn’t straightforward though. A single parent with two children, aged four and two, one of whom has disabilities, Tallulha’s available time was limited. Flinders 5-week Foundation Studies Intensive gave her the flexibility and the opportunity to follow her dreams.
The 5-week intensive program allows you to fit your study around your life, with 2 hours in class online or on campus, plus 4 hours of study each day. All classes are held during business hours to help you juggle your existing commitments.
“We had daily online classes where we would learn all the skills necessary to be able to study a degree. If we had any difficulties understanding something or had any questions that we were not able to ask during the online class, the lecturer would reply to our questions quickly via email.”
For students in a variety of circumstances, the balance of classes and study is easily achievable, and Foundation Studies students are fully supported throughout their studies.
“I received support from my lecturer when I needed more information on something regarding our learning tasks or if I wanted to know how I could improve on my work and research. There are also a lot of support services on the FLO website which students have access to, some are even 24/7.”
After 5 weeks, Tallulha completed her Foundation Studies and was accepted into her preferred degree – a Bachelor of Law and Legal Practice.
“I felt a great sense of achievement and happiness that I was able to complete a course through Flinders University whilst juggling my out of school commitments. I was honestly shocked when I found out I got into my preferred degree. when I found out I was ecstatic.”
Foundation Studies are designed to give you the skills and confidence to start one of over 30 Flinders degrees. With 5-week, 4-month or 7-month programs available, now is the time to find your fearless and study towards your dream career.
“Do it. There is no better time to start than now. It was one of the best decisions I have made regarding to bettering myself and starting my journey to a career I want to be in.”
