We work with researchers and policy makers, nationally and internationally, and students, in the fields of mental health and violence prevention to undertake research and evaluation projects.

Our collaborations through special interests groups, and the establishment of research chapters, span internation and leading research teams working in the fields of wellbeing and violence prevention.

Aggressive and Bullying Behaviour in Youth (ABBY)

This special interest group has come together to pool resources to consider new ideas for investigating and dealing with aggressive behaviour and bullying in schools.

India-Australia: International studies in wellbeing

This groups represents a partnership between Australia and India to promote health and wellbeing and reducing risk-taking behaviour amongst adolescents in schools.

Peace education

Peace education teaches individuals to think differently about violence and seeks to discover the root-causes for violence and conflicts. This group aims to build individual characteristics and social awareness to think peacefully and to build a peaceful world.

Social-Emotional Learning & Bullying and Cyberbullying: A Spanish Perspective

Current studies of this group include the social-emotional and moral skills of bystanders to better understand the effects of interventions of cyberbullying and bullying, and the project entitled Sexting, cyberbullying and emerging risks in the network: Keys for understanding and an educational response.

Joint Research Laboratory (JRL)

SWAPv is pleased to announce an Agreement of Cooperation between University of Bologna, Flinders University and Libera Università di Bolzano on for the Joint Research Laboratory (JRL) on student wellbeing & prevention of violence

Since its establishment, the JRL has promoted the research activity from the partner Universities through the implementation of research projects both in Italy and in Australia. It has provided funding for joint activities to allow the participation of a number of researchers from the partner Universities, and has generated interest in research and policy development amongst government and non-government agencies in Italy and in Australia.

In 2018 and 2019 joint international conferences were held at the University of Bologna and at the University of Bolzano.
