Description

The Government of South Australia has established the Enabling Educator Excellence (E3) Scholarship for students commencing undergraduate or postgraduate initial teacher registration courses.

35 Enabling Educator Excellence (E3) Scholarships will be available for students commencing mid-year in 2023. An application for a place as a commencing student in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree that is accredited by the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia will constitute an application for a scholarship.

All students who accept an offer into an eligible course for semester 2 2023 and are enrolled in at least one topic by close of business on Monday 17 July, will be considered for these scholarships.

Benefits

Each scholarship is valued at $5,000, subject to maintaining enrolment in an eligible course. Payments will be made in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

Part-time students should receive independent tax advice before accepting their scholarships, as the scholarship may be considered taxable income.

Eligibility

Scholarship applicants must:

be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or permanent humanitarian visa holder; and
be commencing the first year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Flinders University in an initial teacher registration course that is accredited by the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia*; and
have a permanent home address in South Australia; and
have not previously received this scholarship; and
meet one of the following applicant streams:

High ATAR or GPA (ATAR 80 or above including bonus points or GPA of 5.5); or
First Nations people (Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander); or
Women in STEM (enrolled in a major or minor that will enable them to teach STEM on completion of their degree); or
Men in primary school teaching (men undertaking a primary school education qualification).

Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Birth - 8)
Bachelor of Education (Primary)
Bachelor of Education (Secondary Health and Physical Education)
Bachelor of Education (Secondary)
Bachelor of Inclusive and Specialised Education (Early Childhood)
Bachelor of Inclusive and Specialised Education (Primary)
Bachelor of Inclusive and Specialised Education (Secondary)
Master of Teaching (Early Childhood)
Master of Teaching (Primary)
Master of Teaching (Secondary)

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be ranked on the basis of academic merit (ATAR or GPA). Preference may be given to full-time students.

No more than 50% of scholarships will be allocated to any one program stream. No more than 60% of the allocation will be provided to postgraduate students.

Selection of the candidate(s) will be made by a committee comprising representatives from the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work, the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement and Student Administration Services.

Conditions of Award

Application Information

An application for the course and subsequent enrolment in that course by the nominated deadline will constitute an application for the scholarship. Late course acceptances may be considered if the scholarship quotas have not been exhausted.
