The Scholarship has been established through a donation from Craig Ruddy. In 2004 he won the Archibald Prize for his portrait “Two Worlds” of Yolgnu actor David Gulpilil. From the proceeds of the sale of “Two Worlds”, Craig Ruddy wanted to support the medical profession by contributing to education and mentoring opportunities for Indigenous medical students in the Northern Territory, in particular in the Top End region to reflect David Gulplil’s home in Wanga (North East Arnhem).
Applicants for the Scholarship must:
Applications will be accepted from part-time students who have extenuating circumstances that prevent them from studying full-time (e.g., disabilities, carer responsibilities).
The Scholarship will be awarded based on financial need and demonstrated passion for improving health outcomes in the Northern Territory. Scholarship selection will be made by the College of Medicine and Public Health in conjunction with Yunggorendi Student Services in accordance with University procedures.
