Support for External Research Prizes and Awards

Increase the competitiveness of your application for significant, multidisciplinary prizes and awards.

Key Information

For significant, multidisciplinary prizes and awards, we will support researchers to increase the competitiveness of their application. This support is provided by the Researcher Development team in collaboration with the Media and Communications team. We currently support the following six prizes.

Prime Minister's Prizes for Science

SA Science Excellence + Innovation Awards

Universities Australia Shaping Australia Awards

Young Tall Poppy Awards

Australian Museum Eureka Prizes

Engagement Australia Excellence Awards

For those prizes that include multiple categories, we support the research-related prizes. We can connect you with other teams in the University who will support teaching-related prizes.

In consultation with College Deans of Research and the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) we will:

provide internal, central support for competitive applications including advice and review of draft applications and related documents
external support for strategic applicants (identified by the DVC(R)'s office)
organise and draft nomination letters from the DVC(R)'s office, as required

These opportunities will be advertised on ResearchLink and through College channels. Applicants for these awards are encouraged to contact us as early as possible. Applicants who do not meet our internal deadlines may receive limited support, depending on timing and our team’s capacity.

Young Tall Poppy Award Information Session

The Young Tall Poppy Science Awards recognise excellence in research achievement as well as excellence and passion in outreach and community engagement to promote scientific understanding and engagement. South Australian Science Excellence + Innovation Awards Information Session

This session presented by Dr Pallave Dasari, Strategic Partnerships and Development Officer, Department for Industry and Skills, provided an online information session on the SA Science Excellence and Innovation Awards.

The SA Science Excellence + Innovation Awards recognise outstanding achievements in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine (STEMM), including recent PhD graduates and remarkable teachers, who are inspiring and training the futre STEMM workforce.

The five categories of awards are:

South Australian Scientist of the Year
South Australian Innovator of the Year
STEMM Educator of the Year: University or Registered Training Organsiation Level
Excellence in Science and Industry Collaboration
PhD Reserch Excellence (for researchers within 2 years of their PhD conferral).
