Dr Tom Porta is an Researcher in Inclusive Education and differentiated instruction, completing his PhD in 2023. He is a sessional lecturer across a range of universities. Tom's research focuses on differentiated instruction in senior-secondary schooling and teacher attitudes and self-efficacy towards DI implementation.
Tom has taught in primary secondary settings for over 10 years, and 3 years in tertiary settings, lecturing in inclusive education, numeracy, learning difficulties and disabilities, and programming for high support needs. Most recenty he was Director of Inclusive Education at Woodcroft College in Adelaide, where he strategically took the school on a journey of true inclusion and inclusive education.
Tom's other research interests include investigating ways senior-secondary teachers can differentiate instruction more efficiently and effectively and curriculum frameworks in senior-secondary across Australian states. He is passionate about building teacher capacity through sustained professional development opportunities. Tom is passionate about supporting students' numeracy development.
