Susan is a Registered Nurse/Midwife with over thirty years experience in nursing, midwifery and as a maternal child health nurse working with Child and Family Health in South Australia. She is a qualified and passionate Immunizer. Susan has been employed as a researcher by both SALHN and Flinders University and commenced a new role as as a Nurse Teaching Specialist on the 2nd of June 2026.

Qualifications

PhD, Masters of Midwifery, Grad. Dip. Midwifery, Grad Cert Health (CAFHN), BN. Experience in both qualitative and quantitative research with a publication track record of six first author and over 15 other publications. She has an RI score of 73 with over 1568 reads, 20 recommendations and 110 citations.

Honours, awards and grants

Susan received a Chancellors Letter of Commendation for Academic Achievement for her Masters of Midwifery results. She is a member of Golden Key Society for academic achievement, a Healthy Development Adelaide, former scholar and 2023 publication award winner. Susan was awarded a PhD for her work into vaccine hesitancy in pregnant women and early parenting and its effect on vaccine uptake.

Key responsibilities

Susan commenced a new role as a Lecturer in Nursing at Flinders University in 2026. She has previously been employed as a research academic and tutor in nursing topics .
