Matthew is an academic status holder in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS). His research focuses on how ethical, philosophical and social sciences perspectives underpin, inform, and continue to shape our understanding and practice of healthcare and health professions education.

He has previously taught topics in philosophy of mind, cognitive science, moral philosophy and political philosophy, and has worked in various research roles across multiple research groups in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS).
