College of Health and Enablement
Dr Mariana Reis (PhD) is a Lecturer in the Master of Audiology program within the College of Health and Enablement at Flinders University. She is the Placement Education Coordinator for the program and also works as a Clinical Educator in the Flinders University Health2Go interprofessional student clinic.
Her clinical expertise is in audiological rehabilitation, with a focus on supporting people using hearing aids and implantable hearing devices. She is committed to ethical, evidence-based, and person-centred care in both clinical and teaching contexts.
Dr Reis has worked across a wide range of audiology settings, including not-for-profit, public, and private services in Australia and Brazil, as well as roles in research and development within start-ups and global technology companies. This diverse experience, along with her research and clinical work, has shaped her understanding of how access to hearing care can vary across different contexts and systems. She brings these insights into her teaching and clinical supervision.
Her research focuses on improving hearing rehabilitation outcomes for adults and strengthening access to effective, evidence-based hearing healthcare. She is particularly interested in reducing barriers that prevent people and communities from receiving the care they need.
