Larissa Taylor works in Aboriginal health education, supporting the integration of cultural safety and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health perspectives within health professional programs. Her work focuses on preparing future clinicians to deliver culturally safe care and to better understand the historical and social contexts that shape health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. She contributes to curriculum development, teaching and program design across multiple areas of health education and works closely with colleagues to strengthen the inclusion of Aboriginal health learning across the student journey.

Larissa is particularly interested in creating learning environments that encourage reflection, respectful dialogue and critical thinking around health equity and culturally responsive care. Her work is grounded in the importance of community relationships, cultural integrity,truth telling and the ongoing development of culturally safe health education.

Key responsibilities
  • Curriculum Lead for Aboriginal Health within CMPH , supporting the development, coordination and ongoing review of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health teaching across health professional programs. 
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of culturally safe teaching and learning activities within health professional education.
  • Support the integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health perspectives and cultural safety principles within curriculum and program development.
  • Facilitate student learning through workshops, discussions and reflective learning activities that encourage culturally respectful healthcare practice.
  • Work collaboratively with academic and professional staff to strengthen culturally safe approaches to teaching and student engagement.
  • Support respectful learning environments where students can critically engage with issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, colonisation and health equity.
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum review and program development aimed at strengthening cultural safety education within health professional programs.
