Associate Lecturer in Psychology
College of Human Sciences and Culture
I am an associate lecturer, registered psychologist and military veteran. My research expertise includes social psychology, social identity theory, and workplace psychosocial hazards, including institutional betrayal in high-risk occupational systems. Clinically, I specialise in working with individuals experiencing acute and chronic suicidality and individuals in situational crisis. I also have experience treating individuals with eating disorders. Prior to registering as a psychologist, I worked for several years as a lived-experience peer support worker in crisis support settings.
My research examines how institutional dynamics within military organisations shape identity formation and how discharge processes can contribute to psychosocial harm, identity disruption, and long-term wellbeing challenges. I have experience in mixed-methods research, qualitative thematic analysis, psychometric scale validation, and structural equation modelling of psychosocial processes. My practice and lived experience inform a translational research approach, applying empirical findings to inform service delivery, transition management, and veteran support policy.
