The Emerging Leaders Showcase (ELS) is a 2-day event which provides a great opportunity for networking and a platform for the Flinders’ College of Medicine and Public Health students and early- to mid-career academics to showcase their ground-breaking work in teaching and research.

This year, we held the event on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th November, in Alere Function Centre at the Bedford Park campus.

Our jam-packed program, featured speakers talking about a range of topics related to medicine and public health, e-poster presentations, sponsor displays, a student art exhibition, music and lots of networking opportunities.

Who are our Emerging Leaders?

They are Early and Mid-Career Academics (EMCAs) and High Degree Research (HDR) students across the College. EMCAs and HDRs are highly trained and motivated scientists, educators and innovators, dedicated to becoming the next leaders in their field.

They are responsible for a significant share of the research output that emerges from scientific laboratories, innovation in teaching and learning, changes in national and international guidelines and policies, as well as taking on supervisory and managerial roles. Through their expertise and knowledge, the emerging leaders are in a strategic position to make decisions on the purchasing of equipment, consumables, services, textbooks and education and training material. They represent the future of Australian science, education and public health as they move into careers that include research, teaching, industry, policy making, and scientific communication.
