The inaugural Flinders University Joan Durdin AM Oration was held at the Alere Function Centre at Bedford Park on Thursday 11 May 2023.
MC’d by Professor Tiffany Conroy, Deputy Dean for Nursing Leadership and Innovation and Professor, guests heard from Sarah Brown AM, CEO Purple House on: ‘The Challenges and Joy of Being a Disruptor: How nurses can change the world (or at least their little bit of it)”
Following Sarah’s presentation, a panel discussion centered around Leadership in Nursing took place, moderated by Associate Professor Karleen Thornton, Teaching Specialist, Acad. In addition to Sarah Brown AM, panellists were Adjunct Associate Professor Jenny Hurley, Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer, SA Health, Associate Professor Christine Dennis, Board Choir, Women’s and Children’s Health Network, and Associate Professor Grant Davies, Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner.
A Nursing Leadership Mentoring Program was also launched on the evening by Professor Alison Kitson, Vice President and Executive Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
