After working as a product manager at Google for seven years, Frenchman Pierre Lebeau (BIntBus ‘01) realised ‘everything is possible’ and launched his own consumer robotics company, Keecker, in 2012.
Pierre believes Keecker is about to transform how we interact with machines on a daily basis. ‘Our media robot gives you the ability to watch movies, make video calls, play games and listen to music anywhere in your home,’ says Pierre. Keecker can also be used as a security and home monitoring system, checking temperature, humidity, sound, light and carbon dioxide levels.
Graduating from a Bachelor of International Business at Flinders University in 2001, Pierre did not envision running his own business; instead he worked for small, medium then large companies around the world before launching his robotics and artificial intelligence company.
‘Flinders made me a global citizen. The international focus of my degree made me learn about local and cultural differences, which in today’s global world is just crucial. Being from Europe, we’re often unaware of the other side of the world, but Flinders opened my eyes and showed me a different world.
‘My degree enabled me to work for global companies such as NewsCorp and Google, and eventually start my own business in consumer robotics, even though I’m not an engineer. I realised nothing is set, everything is possible,’ says Pierre.
As CEO and Founder of Keecker, Pierre is extremely proud of the company he has created. ‘Seeing 25 incredibly talented and motivated people believing strongly in a common goal is amazingly rewarding and gives me a lot of pride and more motivation to fight to make the business a success.’
Keecker will be launched worldwide later this year.
