Aged Care Research & Industry Innovation Australia (ARIIA)
Shaping the future of aged care.
ARIIA is an initiative of the Australian Government to shape the future of aged care delivery in Australia.
ARIIA aims to build workforce capabilities around innovation and translation of research to embed evidence-based approaches to care, growth, and change.
This includes growth in the use of products and technologies that will improve aged care service delivery.
This research centre is funded by:
The Australian Government has committed $34 million to the establishment of ARIIA at Flinders University until 2024.
ARIIA delivers several activities to improve aged care for all Australians.
You can explore a collection of over 500 quality resources that address needs in the aged care sector and draw on evidence summaries to support the skills and knowledge development of the workforce.
The Knowledge and Implementation Hub houses a comprehensive searchable database of Australian materials, tools, projects and learning resources on aged care.
The sector has told us what the most pressing topics in aged care are. We use best practice methods to appraise and synthesise evidence that addresses these critical issues. Working with specialist evidence advisory groups, we undertake a scoping review of the published research evidence and an environmental scan for practical tools and resources to ensure the research is credible, relevant and practical.
We can enable your staff to find brave and innovative solutions to continuously improve your organisation.
The Innovator Training Program gives participants the knowledge, skills and capability to understand workplace problems.
They will learn how to find and adapt the best evidence available to identify the solution and manage organisational change.
We offer flexible delivery schedules, incorporating self-directed learning modules, facilitated co-design workshops and small group project discussions with the ARIIA team.
Up to $2,000 (ex GST) per participant is available to the employing organisation as a contribution to salary costs.
We can connect you with experts from different disciplines and industries who can help you shape your ideas and options.
The Aged Care Partnering Program supports collaborations between aged care and industry organisations to refine projects and develop nationally competitive ARIIA Grant applications.
This enables the development of evidence-based trials and practice-ready solutions to real-world problems.
We provide competitive grants that enable organisations to pilot high-quality innovative projects.
ARIIA Grants are open to applicants who wish to contribute to the aged care sector by implementing evidence-based solutions that will lead to scalable and translatable improvements.
Successful applicants receive up to $160,000 (ex GST) for projects completed within 12 months.
A minimum co-contribution of grant funding from the applicant or their partners is required..
This dynamic information source will provide the whole community and the aged care workforce with trusted access to evidence that will drive transformation in providing care and services to older people.
The Aged Care Partnering Program will closely facilitate translational research projects by fostering collaborations between researchers, all participants in the aged care industry, consumers, and government.
It will deliver outcomes to support increased workforce capacity and capability and enable sector-wide improvement in models of care, care quality, productivity, investment, commercialisation, and uptake of innovative technology.
Training modules and resources will support sector-wide improvement in care quality by increasing and expanding the capability of the aged care workforce to access, understand, use and embed research outcomes and technology in their work practice.
Flinders University brings together 73 stakeholders from across Australia to establish ARIIA. This is the beginning of a connected and collaborative national initiative, and we welcome others to join our activities and networks.
“Through ARIIA, we will seek to make real and meaningful change. This once-in-a-generation initiative will allow our researchers to collaborate with industry to develop stronger workforce capability and translate research into best practice.”
