What is a special education (or inclusive education) teacher’s salary? keyboard_arrow_up

According to the SA Department of Education, the average annual salary for a school teacher in South Australia typically falls within the range of $80,000 to $126,000.

What is the difference between special education, inclusive education and inclusive teaching? keyboard_arrow_up

Special education is a specialised support program for students with disability or additional needs in any educational settings (it is not a separate building or setting-it is a program).

Inclusive education specifically refers to supportingall students -regardless of ability to earn together in the same setting, i.e., mainstream classrooms, to access the same curriculum.

Inclusive teaching refers to the strategies and pedagogies educators use to meet diverse learning needs, creating a supportive and accessible environment for all students.

In Australia, inclusive education aligns with the Disability Standards for Education and promotes equity in schooling.

Are there many opportunities in special education? keyboard_arrow_up

Yes, there is strong demand for qualified educators in special and inclusive education across Australia. With a national focus on supporting diverse learners and implementing inclusive practices, job opportunities exist in mainstream schools, specialist schools, support units, and education policy roles. The Australian Government’s Jobs and Skills Australia highlights education and training as a sector with stable growth, and states are investing in inclusive teaching initiatives to attract and retain skilled professionals.
