Flinders’ business graduate Nicho Teng was selected as a finalist in the 2018 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, one of just five applicants chosen from South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Mr Teng credits his success with a solid education in business tax, commerce and accounting received at Flinders, together with help from mentors and friends.
“How did I get to where I am today? I had to learn to think big, to go beyond. I had to learn to become my own boss. I had to learn to challenge the system and to change the world,” says Nicho. “And where did I get all this knowledge from? Flinders University.”

“I firmly believe that business can make the world a better place.
I became an international student, a library assistant, and a CPA student ambassador. I met a lot of people and took every opportunity I had.
I took my chances and contacted one of the big players operating in the industry where I wanted a career. Today I’m an associate financial provider at Perpetual. I had to learn to think big, think beyond. I had to learn to be future-focussed. I had to learn to build my worth. And where did I get all this knowledge from? Flinders.”

“Learning at Flinders is both exciting and a mind opener at the same time.
The lecturers are informed and have great experience in the outside world – making learning exciting as we learn about the financial market in classes. Flinders has provided the opportunity to interact with industry players in South Australia through forums organised by the business school; this allows me to understand class work from a real-world perspective which is so important.”

"I remember my first day at university; I never felt like an outsider. Flinders has an inclusive friendly culture, and it was nice to meet people from other cultures.
There is lots of support for students, they have been very supportive; they will assist you with whatever you need. The amount of development workshops in specific research areas and academic English language courses that are available free for students and free of charge is unbelievable.
There was financial support for students affected by the pandemic, or who lost their part-time work. That was amazing.
I was looking for a complete experience; not just a degree and then leave.
I wanted to go somewhere I had never been, something different, and I found that in Adelaide. It's a city that is very suitable for students, there are heaps of activities, events, and festivals. The people are nice and friendly, I feel like people are cool calm, and collected in Adelaide.
It would take me days to share my Flinders experience, but in one word I would describe it as 'unique'. It has exceeded my expectations in every possible way."

"The MBA provided a much more intimate experience. Classes were held in a boardroom- style setting where we debated issues, raised questions and shared ideas. The learning environment was much more aligned with what you experience in a workplace.”
Evan Lucas, Head of Strategy at InvestSMART, says his Flinders University MBA opened doors to an incredible career.

Yes, in many ways. Not only will it help you to build your networks, improve your confidence and knowledge, and give you access to sought-after industry experience, but salaries for MBA graduates tend to be higher than for those with just a Bachelor’s Degree.
To view the admission requirements for the MBA, refer to the Handbook. Generally speaking, you’ll either need to hold a Bachelor’s Degree from an approved tertiary institution or the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration (which can be accessed by proving prior work experience).
There are alternative pathways that will help gain you entry into an MBA without an undergraduate degree. Click here to find out more about the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.
You can apply through Flinders International application portal, Study Link – by clicking here.
This can vary based on your circumstances and the topics you study. View the Handbook to find out more detailed information. We also have a range of international scholarships available – click here to discover your eligibility.
Yes, definitely! The topics and specialised industry entrepreneurial programs within the courses will provide you with invaluable content about starting your own business, and the industry, student and alumni networks you’ll establish during the course will help prepare you to launch your own venture.
You can also choose from six MBA specialisations: Business Analytics, Finance, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, International Business, and Marketing.
This can vary based on the MBA you select to study, but all of our MBA courses offer generous exposure to industry and opportunity, through placements, internships and specialised industry entrepreneurial programs. Of the courses, the MBA Industry Focused offers the most exposure to industry (up to 36 weeks).
